Jubii

Jubii, already popular in Europe, is a web service that can combine web browsers, a chat program, an e-mail program, and a file-sharing program together. “It’s all really about exchanging information, whether it’s e-mails or text messages or chat or file sharing. There should be a way to bring this all together,” said Jan Wergin, executive vice president of Jubii. Jubii is the U.S. subsidiary of European web giant Lycos, a popular Internet brand in its native Denmark. Wergin said he has brought together the best of Lycos’ social software technologies into a single service, which aims to integrate chat, test messaging, phone services, file-sharing, storage and several other Web and mobile communication technologies.

The kinds of web service that Jubii provides will become a trend in the future, because it’s more convenient for users who don’t need to install any software in their PCs or laptops. I have used online messaging services for several years, from ICQ to MSN, which has done a fabulous job of bridging the distance between people by providing them with an easy tool for chatting with each other. When I’m using my computer at home, there are no problems or restrictions placed on my using instant messaging. However, there is one popular website which provides users with even more options: Meebo.com. It’s a website that allows users to sign into and chat simultaneously on different web messengers such as AIM, Yahoo, Google talk, MSN, or Meebo itself. However, all these service providers that I have only support instant messaging function, while Jubii also provides even more services.

Compared to having to install several software programs into the computers, it will be much more convenient to subscribe to Jubii’s services instead, which can provide you with many more functions than just simple instant messaging. Jubii is a very hot system in Europe, but that has not yet been the case in other countries. Once the company can provide multi-language packages for different regions, I think it will be everyone’s favorite in the future.

Video Games

“When people play action games, they’re changing the brain’s pathway responsible for visual processing” said Daphne Bavelier, a professor of brain and cognitive sciences at the University of Rochester. “These games push the human visual system to limits and the brain adapts to it.” According to researchers said that the students were provided a crowding test, which is similar to an electronic eye chart showed how well each student could determine the direction of a “T” symbol within a crowd of other distracting symbols. Examiner divided the students into two groups. One was the experimental group played “Unreal Tournament,” a fast-action first-person shooting game about one hour a day for a month. Another one was the source group played Tetris, which a slow-paced puzzle game, for the same amount of time. After the experiment, researchers found that the experimental group that played “Unreal Tournament,” demonstrated a 20 percent improvement in identifying the “T” symbols in the crowding test, and the source group that played Tetris showed no improvement.

It’s really interesting topic to me, because I think people seem the video games have the bad influence for player, such as wasting time for playing too much games or affecting the eye sight. After this news released, it’s not only give the good reason to play game, but also will encourage people to buy more games. The consequence, the both game companies and game software companies will increase the amount of sale on game stations such PlayStation 3, Wii and XBOX. I think it will be a strategy to apply for putting more money to do research and finding the positive feedback to growth the company's revenue.
