“When people play action games, they’re changing the brain’s pathway responsible for visual processing” said Daphne Bavelier, a professor of brain and cognitive sciences at the University of Rochester. “These games push the human visual system to limits and the brain adapts to it.” According to researchers said that the students were provided a crowding test, which is similar to an electronic eye chart showed how well each student could determine the direction of a “T” symbol within a crowd of other distracting symbols. Examiner divided the students into two groups. One was the experimental group played “Unreal Tournament,” a fast-action first-person shooting game about one hour a day for a month. Another one was the source group played Tetris, which a slow-paced puzzle game, for the same amount of time. After the experiment, researchers found that the experimental group that played “Unreal Tournament,” demonstrated a 20 percent improvement in identifying the “T” symbols in the crowding test, and the source group that played Tetris showed no improvement.
It’s really interesting topic to me, because I think people seem the video games have the bad influence for player, such as wasting time for playing too much games or affecting the eye sight. After this news released, it’s not only give the good reason to play game, but also will encourage people to buy more games. The consequence, the both game companies and game software companies will increase the amount of sale on game stations such PlayStation 3, Wii and XBOX. I think it will be a strategy to apply for putting more money to do research and finding the positive feedback to growth the company's revenue.
